This year, children and staff have been working hard to develop our garden / allotment area, Harrison's Yard. We wanted to create an outdoor area where children could appreciate the natural world; learn how to help plants grow and further help our planet by creating this environment using recycled materials!
We are so proud to say we achieved the GOLD award for the second year in a row this year!
In 2022, we won the GOLD award and were highly commended for using the environment to compliment our curriculum!
Take a look at how we achieved this...
As part of our 'Pledge for our Planet' topic, children had been learning about plants, including: parts of plants, what they need to grow and how they are vital for the environment. The children have been making good use of this knowledge when creating their fairy gardens!
We put our knowledge and designs together and created our own 'fairy village' from recycled materials...
We are so excited to have developed Harrison's Yard into a beautiful area to explore, create, learn about and support plants and wildlife...
Our next environmental projects are already underway!
We are currently:
- planning our multi-generational allotment between our school and the community care home after winning the Tesco community project;
- working with the Rivers Trust to new woodland in Bootle.
So watch this space!
