Every school is shaped by the people within it, and at Captain Shaw's we are proud of the caring, dedicated team who help our children learn, grow and flourish each day.

The portraits and profiles on this page are a little different! Rather than being written by the adults themselves, each member of staff has been introduced through the eyes of our pupils. The pictures, descriptions and observations have been created entirely by the children, capturing not only what they see, but also the kindness, humour, talents and personalities that make each person special.

We hope you enjoy meeting our team through the creativity, honesty and imagination of the children who know them best.

Mr. Jackson

Headteacher, Teacher, SENCo, Designated Safeguarding & Mental Health Lead

The children say: 

Mr. Jackson is a really energetic person. He is a fun, creative and silly headteacher. He tries to make learning as fun as possible. He uses individual learning to help pupils with different mindsets. He gives us unique challenges and brightens up peoples' days. He respects and cares for the teachers and children and makes the school better each day.

Mrs. May

KS2 Teacher

The children say: 

Mrs. May is Class 2's afternoon teacher. She is sweet, kind-hearted, caring and helpful. She tries her best all the time and is incredibly hardworking. She teaches Science, History, Geography, PSHE, PE, Design & Technology but loves Art & Design the most! She is a great teacher and will not leave anyone behind.

Miss Jarvis

Reception & KS1 Teacher

The children say:

Miss Jarvis teaches in Class 1. She is a really kind and helpful teacher. Miss Jarvis is also lots of fun and always likes a good laugh! One thing to know about her is that she really, REALLY loves glitter and if she could, she would use it in every lesson – we think she has a secret supply somewhere! 

Miss Wrigley

Nursery Lead

The children say:

Miss Wrigley is our nursery teacher. She is really nice and funny lots of the time. Miss Wrigley is good at teaching. She has lots of energy and laughs a lot. She is really helpful but makes sure we do things for ourselves, like nursery children putting their own coats on.

Mrs. Miles

Teaching Assistant

The children say:

Mrs. Miles teaches and works to help individual children and sometimes groups in lessons like Geography and History. She is helpful, kind and respectful. Mrs. Miles is really patient with children. She sometimes sits with us at dinner with her packed lunch and likes to talk to us. 

Mrs. Donnelly

Teaching Assistant

The children say:

Mrs. Donnelly works with little ones in the nursery to help them. She is a teacher who you know you can always trust. She is helpful inside school and in the playground. She makes sure little ones are ok if they hurt themselves or are stuck. She is respectful and loves coffee as well!

Mrs. Clarke

Music Teacher

The children say:

Mrs. Clarke is our music teacher. She is a joy to have around. She is really talented and plays lots of different instruments, like the trumpet and the piano. She is always determined to help children. She is a wonderful person.

Mrs. Tyson

Office Manager

The children say:

Mrs. Tyson is a lovely person who works in the office. She is kind, helpful and happy. When you walk into the office, she says in a cheerful voice, "Can I help you?" Mrs. Tyson always tries her best. She types on the computer a lot. She also sometimes helps with First Aid and the printer.

Mrs. Lee

Kitchen & Cleaning

The children say:

Mrs. Lee works in the kitchen and is really kind to us all at Breakfast Club and dinnertime. She cares for us all. She makes amazing food and works really hard cooking and cleaning. She can be funny as well, but she can jump a lot if someone surprises her!

Mr. Pugh

School Bus Driver

The children say:

Mr. Pugh is a silly, fun bus driver who always makes people laugh at his jokes. He likes to make people's days by always bringing fun to the bus journeys. He drives us to school and back and also to swimming and school trips.
