Working Together to Make Our Roads Safer

Keeping our children, families and staff safe is always a top priority for us. As part of this, we have recently written to our local MP and Parish Council to ask for their support in reducing the speed limit on the road outside our school.

This work has been especially meaningful because it has been led by our pupils. As part of their ‘Right and Wrong’ topic, the children explored the importance of rules, laws and keeping people safe. They researched road safety, looked at the risks posed by speeding traffic, and discussed what they felt was fair and right for our community.

Using what they had learned, the children then wrote thoughtful and persuasive letters to share their views. They showed real maturity, explaining clearly why a lower speed limit would help protect everyone who uses the road, especially at busy times of the day.

We are incredibly proud of how our pupils have engaged with a real-life issue and used their voices to make a difference. We will continue to work closely with our local community and keep you updated as we hear more.

You can read their letters below.
