Home Learning Advice and Suggestions

We understand that due to the coronavirus outbreak, you and your children are spending more time at home and you might be looking for a bit more inspiration for things to do.

As you know children of this age group learn more through play. In nursery they are not expected to sit at a table and do worksheets or even join in with activities if they are not interested, the same applies at home.

Below I have put some links to useful websites that have lots of suggestions for activities and play ideas and how these can be extended to develop your child’s learning.

Websites:

https://hungrylittleminds.campaign.gov.uk/

This is a government run website aimed at the Early Years. Select your child’s age to see relevant ideas for play, apps and other suggested websites.

Here you will find some interactive games. Go to resources – phase one.

https://www.twinkl.co.uk/go

Twinkl Go! You will need to make a free account to access the resources. You can search by age range e.g. Early Years, this will bring you too appropriate resources for the age groups which are interactive so no need to print! On the left hand side, you will see all the areas of learning, select an area and relevant resources will appear in the main window. {lease keep to the age appropriate ones not KS1.

White Rose Maths is aimed at Reception but the upper nursery have been doing some of these activities sometimes simplified. For those wanting to have a go, start at Light and Dark Week 1 to refresh. Activity sheets do not need to be printed, they can easily be recreated in another way or made easier for your child.
