Class One

In Class 1 this term we have been looking at ‘People who help us.’ We have already had a visit from a nurse and a policeman!  We have also been thinking about how we look after each other.

We have been focusing on Autumn in our art – keep an eye on our Art Gallery Bus Stop for our next exhibition.

We have been having great fun in our weekly swimming lessons.

Class Two

Class 2 have been studying Shakespeare this term!  We are working very hard rehearsing the ‘The Tempest’ for our big performance at the Theatre by the Lake, in Keswick on Thursday 10th November.

We have also been having a lot of fun in our weekly Forest School sessions, building fires, taking on challenges, making dens and problem solving.

At Captain Shaw’s we believe that music matters and that is why in September 2016 we were awarded the ‘Music Mark’ for our ‘outstanding’ music provision. All our pupils receive weekly singing lessons, and our Key Stage 2 pupils are multi-instrumentalists, with each child playing the Ukulele and a brass instrument.  Children also have the opportunity to learn a woodwind instrument.

The school boasts its own brass ensemble which is regularly gigging county-wide and we also have our own BSL sign language choir!

‘We are the makers of music, and we are the dreamers of dreams.’  Arthur O’Shaughnessy.
